Mchana Estate, nestled in the beautiful Kiambu County of Kenya, is a coffee lover’s paradise. Imagine a place where coffee cherries are lovingly harvested from heights between 1800-2150 meters above sea level, where the cool temperatures range from 13-25 degrees Celsius—perfect for growing some of the best coffee beans around.
With a dedicated team of 172 permanent workers and a lively influx of 200 to 1,200 casual workers during peak seasons, Mchana is a hub of activity and passion for coffee. Their commitment to a safe and supportive workplace is as robust as their commitment to quality coffee. They ensure all workers are treated with respect, with no room for discrimination or harassment.
Families are at the heart of Mchana Estate. They provide excellent childcare services, including a daycare for babies and a well-rounded education at Ngewe Primary School for children of their permanent workers and local families. Nutritious, delicious meals keep the little ones healthy and happy.
When it comes to coffee varieties, Mchana Estate is a treasure trove. Their most prominent variety is the SL28, making up a generous 74.1% of their crop, followed by the flavorful Ruiru 11 at 23.7%. There’s also a touch of K7 and a hint of Batian in their offerings. So when you savor a cup of Mchana coffee, you’re mostly enjoying the exquisite taste of SL28.
